Former Arizona Cardinals offensive lineman Billy Price announced his retirement due to health issues.

As Price wrote on social media, he underwent emergency surgery on April 24 due to blood clots in his lungs.

Complications from a pulmonary embolism can be fatal, so the player is forced to retire from football.

Price was selected in the first round of the 2018 draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He subsequently moved to the New York Cants and Arizona Cardinals. Price has remained a free agent for the past year.

In 2017, Price won the award for best center in college football.
