Curious:Guardiola`s assistant is a favorite to inherit Wenger in Arsenal

Arsenal`s management is seriously exploring a few specialists who could inherit Arsene Wenger at the head of the team. So far, the Frenchman looks immune to Emirates, but the club has a favorite for his post when Wenger withdraws. According to The Telegraph, this is former midfielder Mikel Arteta. The Spaniard is currently assistant to Josep Guardiola in Manchester City. Arteta spent five seasons in Arsenal, with the last two of them carrying the captain`s belt. Expectations were that he would join Wenger`s coaching career after the end of his career, but instead, the 35-year-old former Spanish national preferred to learn from Guardiola. Arteta also had an offer to become Mauriceio Pocetino`s assistant in Tottenham, but rejected it.


Despite somewhat surprising Arteta`s decision, Arsenal still looks with a good eye for the opportunity to be at the top of the team. As a footballer, the Barcelona teenager played for Paris Saint-Germain, Glasgow Rangers, Real Sociedad and Everton before moving to the club by live betting odds in North London in 2011.
